"My child went from two different people after your program. I can't begin to explain how much this means to me. I've spent thousands of dollars on tutors, but they haven't been able to bring my child to this level before. Today, she is a much stronger and well-rounded student. Our family thanks you!"

Couples & Marriage Counselling in Vaughan, Ontario
Depending on the circumstance, couples therapy often includes both partners. In my work as a psychologist, I often encourage each partner to be open, honest, and sincere. Through my training, couples will be guided through the process of identifying understanding and consciousness of each partner's needs and wants. Couples therapy is a safe space where feelings can be safely shared and heard by each individual involved.
I have been lucky to see many couples throughout my years practicing as a psychologist. I have learned throughout my training and clinical experience that every couple is different and presents with various challenges that they both cope with individually and together. Part of the work done in my office is understanding how thoughts, feelings, behaviours, past traumas, and situations influence the relationship dynamic. I also help my clients understand each other through the use of emotion-focused therapy. This powerful counselling modality helps clients connect with their partner and emotionally bond.
Why an assessment with a psychologist important?
We often fail to realize how mental health challenges influence relationships both inside and outside of the home. Part of the process of conducting an assessment is to evaluate what mental health challenges exist for each partner. Sometimes, anxiety may influence a person to not want to leave the home, which may impact opportunities to bond. People who struggle with depression at times report concentration difficulties, which could get in the way of accomplishing important tasks for the family.
Clinical Expertise in Couples and Marriage Therapy
Our Therapeutic Orientation:
- Satir Model Therapy - I love Satir counselling. This powerful orientation will help you better understand how your lineage influences how you communicate and work with your partner today. Satir counselling helps build self esteem, communication, and promotes personal growth.
- Emotion Focused Therapy - One of my most powerful tools as a psychologist. Emotion focused therapy helps couples open up and share how they feel and it does this by sticking to what's most important - your emotions. If you learn how to communicate and you create a safe space to do so with your partner, you will be surprised how well your connection grows.
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy - Focusing on solutions to problems is what CBT offers. It looks at how your behaviours and distorted thinking can influence the relationship negatively. We work on creating healthier behaviours and challenging negative thinking.
Relationship Development Topics:
- Sexual Intimacy and Expectations
- Infidelity
- Infertility
- Forgiveness and Rebuilding Trust
- Communication Issues
